DULUTH, MN. (KBJR) - The Duluth East football team is looking to improve upon their 4-5 season from a year ago.

They return star running back Austan Orvedahl, who says he’s looking to stay on the field more after struggling with some cramping issues last season.

“It’s going good, you know we’re doing a lot of conditioning, more than we’veever done. I had cramping problems last year, so this will hopefully help, and figure out that, and we’ve been working out our plays a lot, and making sure everyone is on the same page,” said Orvedahl.

The Greyhounds will turn to Peyton Witzman under center, who has spent the last couple of seasons in a backup role. Head coach Joe Heitala also says that their numbers are up this year, and they’ve been able to take their practice intensity up a notch.

Duluth East opens their season on Thursday, September 1 at Hibbing.
