DULUTH, MN. (KBJR) - The Duluth Huskies fell 8-2 to the Kalamazoo Growlers in the Northwoods League Championship game.

The Huskies made the playoffs by winning the Great Plains East Division in the first half of the season. They completed an unlikely sweep of the Eau Claire Express in the first round of the postseason, followed by a 5-3 win in Willmar against the Stingers to earn a spot in the championship game.

They’ve played in the championship three other times, but came up short all of them. Duluth was swept by the Madison Mallards in 2004 and 2013, and lost in a thriller to the Fond Du Lac Dock Spiders in 2018.

This was Duluth’s 19th season playing in the Northwoods League, dating back to their founding season of 2003.
