DULUTH (KBJR6/CBS3) - Several Duluth City Councilors are proposing a speed limit for things like e-bikes and motorized scooters in some busy spots around town.

If approved, riders would only be able to go 10 miles per hour in places like Duluth’s Lakewalk and Baywalk.

Councilors will have their first conversation about the proposal Monday and could end up voting at their next meeting.

KBJR 6 spoke to a representative from Leaf Monday, one of the companies that rents out motorized scooters in Duluth.

He told us the scooter’s top speed is 15 miles per hour.

He also says there’s already a setting on them, capping speeds at 8 miles per hour in the Canal, Life Bridge, and Lakewalk areas.

According to city spokespeople, the current speed limit on the Lakewalk is 15 miles per hour.
