VIRGINIA, MN-- The man involved in last Friday’s standoff is being charged with burglary and disorderly conduct after four officers sustained injuries.

Friday, July 29, officers from the Virginia Police Department and St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a burglary at a Virginia home.

The resident said someone was in her basement/garage moving things around, without permission.

According to the criminal complaint, when officers arrived, the door was blocked and a man had barricaded himself inside.

After some time, he discharged a fire extinguisher, threw objects at the officers and shouted threats of blowing the building up.

After multiple attempts from police to get the man to come out, they eventually subdued him using non-lethal rounds, a K9 and a taser.

Mark Williams, 53, was charged Monday with Burglary in the First Degree, Threats of Violence and Obstructing Legal Process.

Williams was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

A St. Louis County Deputy and three Virginia Police officers suffered minor injuries, although it was not immediately clear what those injuries were or how they were caused.
