TONIGHT: High pressure over the upper Great Lakes will keep the Northland dry and seasonal for Saturday night. Clear skies will continue with lows falling to the mid to lower 50s. A few towns will even fall to the upper 40s. Winds will start out from the northwest at a calm rate between 3-6 mph before changing to the east by the morning hours. The winds will change direction as a warm front develops over central Minnesota. This warm front will bring the first of several rounds of showers and storms through the holiday into next week.

SUNDAY: The day will start out mostly sunny and seasonal with winds coming off the lake between 10-15 mph. With the winds coming off the lake, this will keep towns around Lake Superior cool and nice. Highs will be slightly cooler in some areas in the upper 60s with other areas in the mid 70s. As the day progresses, clouds will increase with late scattered showers possible. This is due to the warm front over central Minnesota. The system associated with the warm front will move slowly to the east toward the Northland from Montana increasing the chance for storms Sunday night into Monday.

4TH OF JULY: For the holiday, it will not be the best day for fireworks as showers and storms are predicted for the Northland. The system from Montana will continue to move toward the Northland, but it will merge with a stronger system over Colorado. This will create a strong warm front just south of the Northland keeping the rain potential around for several days after the holiday. Highs will be cooler in the mid to upper 60s with ESE winds between 10-15 mph. There is a chance for severe weather for mostly Wisconsin and areas south of Duluth on Monday with strong winds and large hail possible. Rain will diminish off briefly Monday night which can help with fireworks, but the rain will pick back up by midweek.
