Duluth begins search for next police chief, offers chance for public feedback
DULUTH, MN -- The City of Duluth has taken the first big step toward choosing its next police chief.
Chief Mike Tusken announced his retirement in June. His last day with the department will be August 1.
The application process to fill his job opened Friday and will close July 31.
Then, in August, they’ll review candidates and start interviews before inviting the finalists back for a second round in September.
The city plans to hold several public meetings throughout the month of July to ask community members what qualities they want to see in Duluth’s next police chief.
They have not shared specific dates yet.
The Duluth Police Department plans to announce its interim chief in the coming weeks.
