RICE LAKE, MN -- A Rice Lake man died days after he suffered severe burns in a house fire.

According to the Midwest Medical Examiners Office, Myles Summers, 33, died Saturday.

Authorities responded to the home on the 3900 block of West Tischer Road around 6:30 p.m. June 22.

Three people lived in the house.

Two of them were in the detached garage when they notice black smoke coming from the house.

Crews searched the residence and found Summers lying on the rear deck.

He was taken to a Duluth hospital and then airlifted to the Twin Cities, where he died three days later.

Authorities believe the fire started in a bedroom, but have not determined an exact cause.

We reached out to the St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office, and are waiting for an update.
