Proctor and Moose Lake-Willow River advance to State Finals, Superior moves onto State Semifinals
DULUTH, MN. (KBJR) - The Northland softball teams were roaring in the circle on Thursday.
In the Minnesota High School ranks, the Proctor Rails softball team completed a 4-run comeback in the State Class AA Quarterfinals to advance to the State Class AA Semifinals where they kept the momentum rolling. The Rails rallied through 12 innings to secure a 2-1 victory over 4th seeded Maple Lake thanks to senior Peyton Rodberg’s walk-off sacrifice fly.
The top-seeded Proctor Rails will play in the State Finals on Friday at 2 pm against Chatfield in North Mankato, Minnesota.
As for the State A Quarterfinals, second seeded Moose Lake-Willow River took an dominant win over Wabasha-Kellogg in an 8-0 final. The Rebels brought their winning ways to the State Class A Semifinals where they beat the third seed Randolph in a nail biting 3-2 win.
ML-WR will play Nicollet on Friday at 2:30 pm in North Mankato, Minnesota.
On the Wisconsin side of the softball brackets in Division 1, the fifth seeded Superior Spartans stunned Cedarburg in five innings during their first State Tournament game in 29 years, winning 10-0.
The Spartans will play Kaukauna on Friday night in Madison, Wisconsin for the Division 1 State Semifinals.
