DULUTH, MN. (KBJR) - Summer tourism season has begun, which is a time local businesses rely heavily on to make a bulk of their revenue.

With relaxed COVID-19 restrictions and increased desire to travel, it is expected to be a busy summer for the Northland.

“People are excited to visit Duluth, and a lot of people are here to see Lake Superior and see the busy action of the shipping in the Twin Ports, so we’re expecting a busy season and we’re ready for everyone to come,” said Sarah Pohl, social media manager for Vista Fleet.

Vista Fleet is located on Harbor Drive in Duluth and offers a wide variety of Lake Superior cruises throughout the summer and fall seasons.

Their sightseeing and sunset dinner cruises aim to educate locals and tourists alike about all the history and beauty Duluth and Lake Superior has to offer.

“A lot of locals live here, but they don’t actually know the history of here, so I think just connecting people with the shipping harbor history, and getting to see Duluth from a different perspective,” Pohl said.

While some travelers use Duluth as a quick stop on their vacation, Pohl wants people to stay and enjoy all the city has to offer.

“We want people to really take in the beauty here a lot of people kind of use Duluth as a stop to go up the North Shore, but we want people to spend a little longer here and really appreciate it,” she said.
