DULUTH, MN. (KBJR) - It was a big day at Duluth East on Wednesday afternoon for eight student-athletes who inked their way to the next level, committing to play college athletics.

Five Greyhounds will be running track including Jackson Decombaz who is headed to D1 Montana State, Cora Nephew will be running for D1 United States Military Academy West Point in New York, Anders Wakefield will call Concordia College Moorhead home as well as Sophia Revoir, and Bianca Lott is going to Carleton College.

As for the other signees, Whitman College will be adding Elly Rectenwald to their swimming roster, while Cassie Bergman will be playing softball at UW-Stout. On the slopes, Ian Morse is skiing out east at Saint Michael’s College.

“I wanted to go out east because it’s a great ski racing scene out there and just talking to coaches and seeing different colleges, I just filtered down that St. Mike’s was probably the best option for me,” said Morse.

“I always knew I wanted to go to West Point. For me, being able to run for them is an amazing perk. From the minute I stepped on their campus for my official visit, I knew I made the right decision,” said Nephew.
