UWS softball teams falls just shy of conference title

SUPERIOR, WI. (KBJR) - Championship Saturday was welcomed across the bridge on Saturday afternoon in the UMAC Tournament Championship between the visiting Vikings of Bethany Lutheran and the UWS Yellowjackets. In a double-elimination tournament, the ‘Jackets needed to win this one to force a deciding game.

While the Yellowjackets brought confidence from their three previous meetings with the Vikes, winning all three of those, Saturday wrote a different narrative.

The only run to come in all day was at the bottom of the third from Bethany Lutheran.

UWS had a chance to score at the top of the seventh, but the Vikings executed to double play, got the out and secured the 2022 UMAC Conference Title in a 1-0 final.

The Yellowjackets finish their season with an impressive record of 33-10.
