5:52 p.m. UPDATE: Burnett County Sheriff’s officials have confirmed that a wildfire burning near Webb Lake Saturday is now under control and there is no danger to the public.
That update came from the county sheriff’s office at 5:50 p.m. Saturday, less than an hour after an alert was issued asking people living east of Swiss Township and West of Webb Lake to evacuate to the St. Croix Casino Danbury.
Burnett County Sheriff’s Officials told KBJR 6 Saturday afternoon they believe the evacuation alert may have been issued as a mistake, but could not comment further on that at this time.
Authorities were also not able to confirm how large the fire is.
