Defense holds strong at UMD spring football game
DULUTH, MN. (KBJR) - On a cold night at Malosky Stadium, the defense stole the show UMD’s annual spring football game.
There were no touchdowns for the entirety of the contact scrimmage, but the defense came up with three big interceptions. One of which lead to the only points of the game, a Curtis Cox field goal.
After the departure of longtime quarterback John Larson, UMD has four new faces competing for starting job under center. Sophomore Logan Graetz and fifth-year senior Garrett Olson are the likely front-runners, as they both have seen live game action with the Bulldogs. Olson was not at spring practice with the Bulldogs.
Coming out of spring, we had a good spring practice, some younger guys had a chance to elevate themselves on the depth chart, and you know we’ve got some older guys that we’re going to look forward to adding back here this summer,” said head coach Curt Wiese.
UMD will open their fall season on Thursday, September 1st at home against Southwest Minnesota State.
