UPDATE 5:45 P.M.-- Bayfield’s fire chief Jeff Boutin confirmed to KBJR 6, that the two-story rental unit was a complete loss.

Boutin said at least 8 people are displaced as a result of the fire.

The 2nd building was saved.

Two firefighters were injured. No one died.

Washburn Fire and Red Cliff EMS assisted.

The Bayfield Chamber and Visitor Bureau has set up a relief fund.

BAYFIELD, WI -- Fire crews are working to put out a large blaze at an apartment building and nearby structure in Bayfield Saturday afternoon, according to witnesses on the scene.

Witnesses tell KBJR 6 the fire engulfed an apartment building and then moved to a secondary structure nearby.

Witnesses say the building is located down the street from the Manypenny Bistro.

They say firefighters are still on the scene battling the blaze as of 3:15 p.m.
