DULUTH, MN. (KBJR) - There were a few equine additions to the usual Saturday shoppers at the Miller Hill Mall last weekend, for the 16th annual Northland horse fair.

The free event was open to the public and is the largest horse expo-style event in the region.

The fair was hosted by Beyond the Barn, a local, family-owned tack shop and western-wear boutique, which also held a grand opening for their store’s new location in the mall.

According to store manager Amanda Crist, the event is a good place for horse enthusiasts to connect with each other.

“We tried to create an event where they can get together, learn about horses, and also find out about things that will be happening throughout the summer. I feel like there’s a lot of horse people in the area but it’s very spread out,” said Crist.

Crist said seven different speakers gave presentations on everything from horse care to helping veterans heal through equine interaction.
