MINNESOTA-- Rep. Jen Schultz who is serving her fourth term representing the eastern half of Duluth announced Thursday she will not run again in the fall.

“I want to thank all the people of District 7A for their support over the years,” Schultz said. It has been exciting and rewarding to serve my constituents in the legislature, and to work with distinguished elected leaders like Speaker Hortman and my fellow chair Representative Liebling, as well as commissioners, administrative staff, House staff, and others who tirelessly serve the people of Minnesota.”

Schultz said it has been a “wonderful eight years” and she is grateful for the opportunity to serve and help the community.

However, she does not see her public service as over.

Schultz plans to continue to work on the crisis in health care, the economy, and higher education.

Schultz took part in creating the 2021 Health and Human Services omnibus bill that made investments to relieve homelessness, food insecurity, and health inequities, as well as other problems detrimental to health.

“Recently, I have been working on allowing a Buy-In to Minnesota Care as a health insurance option for individuals and businesses, creating an independent health care cost commission, increasing competition in and access to biological drugs, and restricting use and abuse of non-compete contract clauses that shackle employees in bad job situations,” said Schultz.

Additionally, she enjoyed being a part of the bonding for UMD building projects, funding important bonding for the City of Duluth, and financing for medical district projects.
