DULUTH, MN. (KBJR) - The UMD men’s hockey series against St. Cloud State scheduled for January 7-8 has been postponed.

The announcement comes due to COVID-19 protocols within the UMD program. They will attempt to make up the series in St. Cloud later this season, but if they are unable to reschedule the games, the will be officially recorded as no contests.

According to a UMD press release, the decision to postpone the games is consistent with the NCHC COVID-19 protocols.

It’s the first COVID-19 related schedule change of the season for the Bulldogs, however they’ve had several players in health and safety protocols throughout the season.

UMD’s team is fully vaccinated, and head coach Scott Sandelin clarified that “pretty much everyone” on the team has received a booster shot as well.

The Bulldogs next scheduled series is at home against Miami (OH) on January 14-15, which will be broadcast live on the My9 Sports Network.
