DULUTH, MN. (KBJR) - The Lady Bulldogs returned at last after their holiday break and much-needed rest. Friday afternoon marked the start to the second half of their season in Cambridge, Massachusetts, facing off with the Harvard Crimson, a team that only fifth-year forward Elizabeth Giguere has competed against.

For the first spark of the day, Elizabeth Giguere shares the wealth with Anna Klein to put UMD on top, 1-0.

The Crimson tie things all up at one, but the ‘Dogs are stirring the pot, and it boils over due to goal number two; thanks to Mackenzie Hewitt, UMD closes out the first, 2-1.

In the final thirty, urgency is on the horizon for the ‘Dogs, and it’s none other than Gabbie Hughes who finds the top of Harvard’s bookshelf for goal number three.

After Naomi Rogge’s strike earlier in the third, this time a sparkling sequence on this New Year’s Eve from Giguere and Hughes to close out the third and the game.

UMD secures their last victory in 2021, 5-2.
