Chisholm’s Lastovich announces campaign for Minnesota’s 8th District
DULUTH, MN -- A Chisholm native has announced her plans to run for Minnesota’s 8th Congressional District seat.
Theresa Lastovich, who is running as a democrat, announced her campaign via email Thursday.
“I am choosing to run because people need lasting opportunities in our district, and someone needs to fight for them,” Lastovich wrote in a press release.
She said the top three issues facing the 8th District are education, infrastructure, and healthcare.
“Not a single member of the 8th District should not have to decide between their necessary medication, a mortgage payment, or an energy bill,” she wrote.
Lastovich is a freelance scholarly journal editor and researcher, with a background in PPE Development and wearable design. She has also worked for Target and 3M.
Lastovich is challenging incumbent republican Rep. Pete Stauber, a former Duluth Police Officer, who is in the middle of his second term.
He has not publicly announced his campaign for a third term.
No other democratic candidates have publicly announced their campaigns.
The 8th District seat will be on the ballot in November 2022.
