DULUTH, MN. (KBJR) - The holiday season is officially upon us, and Northlanders have the chance to experience yet another Christmas attraction this year in Duluth.

The North Shore Scenic Railroad is bringing back the Christmas City Express this weekend.

Executive Director of the North Shore Scenic Railroad Ken Buehler joined KBJR 6 Today live in studio Monday morning to talk about what people can expect this year.

Participants begin the festive outing begins in the Lake Superior Railroad Museum in the Depot with a reading of the Christmas City Express story.

That will be accompanied with carolers and a visit from a special guest.

Once onboard the train, people will take a 30 minute right along Lake Superior equipped with hot chocolate, snacks, and holiday music.

“Everyone is just so excited,” Buehler said. “It’s about the kids and the look on their face and their expressions and when that special guest shows up. Everybody smiles and laughs and it’s just such a marvelous experience. We really missed it last year, and we’re glad that it’s back.”

The event was canceled last year because of the pandemic.

The train ride takes place afternoons and evenings on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.

The event runs from November 26 through December 19.
