DULUTH, MN. (KBJR) - On Saturday, volunteers from Duluth’s First Lutheran Church baked 150 pumpkin pies, which will go toward CHUM’s Thanksgiving dinner boxes.

The organization collects food to create a holiday dinner for those in the community who might not be able to afford their own meal.

CHUM partners with several local churches to make homemade pies rather than giving out store bought ones. This year, volunteers at First Lutheran made 150 pies, 100 of which will be donated to CHUM, while the proceeds from the other 50 will be directly donated.

Volunteers like Char Juntunen said baking pies for CHUM is a great feeling.

“I’ve done a lot of cooking in this church for many many different reasons and for some reason or another doing it for CHUM is the tops for me,” Juntunen said.

According to the volunteers, another 100 pies will be baked and donated by a different church next weekend.
