DULUTH, MN. (KBJR) - A huge donation Tuesday for a Duluth organization helping fight drug addiction.

Minnesota Adult and Teen Challenge received a $70,000 check.

The money was raised through the Breezy Point 5-k Run, Walk and Bike race back in July.

The Paulson family started the race 13 years ago at their Island Lake home and have held it there every year since, raising money for the recovery center.

The Paulson’s say it’s a cause that hits close to home.

“I had someone in my family that if they would’ve been able to attend the Adult and Teen Challenge, they might still be here today,” said race organizer Stevie Paulson. “Because we lost them, we decided to put the money here.”

The race has raised more than $300,000 for the organization over the years.
