Twin Ports ready to welcome back Canadians

DULUTH, MN. (KBJR 6) -The Twin Ports is getting ready to welcome back more Canadians following the border reopening to fully vaccinated Canadian tourists on Monday.

Members of Duluth’s Greater Downtown Council came up with the idea of asking businesses to hang signs to greet them on their trip to the Twin Ports.

The organization’s president, Kristi Stokes, said it’s not just border communities that benefit from Monday’s reopening.

“We typically see quite a few people coming from Canada, and whether it is staying in our hotels or going to our shops or restaurants or shows that is a significant economic impact in our community,” said Stokes.

Stokes said she expects any economic impact to be slower at first but to pick up in the coming weeks and months.
