HERMANTOWN, MN-- Subaru’s annual “Love a Pet” adoption event returned to the Miller Hill Subaru after being cancelled last year due to COVID.

This year the event was separated into two separate days, beginning with Caturday, where only cats were up for adoption on Saturday. Sunday will be Pupday, where only dogs will be available for adoption.

About 90 cats from four different Northland shelters were available. The participating shelters were Animal Allies Humane Society, The Babinski Foundation Animal Shelter, Lake County Humane Society, and the Chequamegon Humane Association.

The event also had local pet vendors and an opportunity for pets to get their photo taken with Santa Claus.

Event organizers said it is always nice to see animals find loving homes.

“If you’re a first time pet owner, or you’re experienced and just looking to add a new family member, this is a great event,” said Nicole Facciato, Animal Allies Humane Education Manager. “There’s so many animals that are looking for a loving home, and adopted animals are always so grateful and loving. It’s almost like they know you chose them and are giving them a home.”

Organizers said 73 cats were adopted Saturday. Sunday’s dog adoption runs from 10-2 at the Miller Hill Subaru.
