UPDATE: Second suspect in Ashland County murder case arrested

ASHLAND COUNTY, WI -

UPDATE 8/10 -- A second murder suspect has been arrested in a 2017 murder case out of Ashland County.

The Ashland Daily Press says Brian Nelis was arrested Thursday afternoon without incident.

Nelis and Michael Sweet both face first degree intentional homicide charges in connection with the death of Shane Cadotte in September 2017.

Sweet is currently being held behind bars in Green Bay. 

The body of the 39-year-old was found outside a trailer in Sanborn Township.

According to the criminal complaint obtained by the Ashland Daily Press, Sweet and Nelis attacked Cadotte when Cadotte met with two other people to sell them drugs. 

The complaint said that occurred on or around September 22nd or 23rd. 

Cadotte's body was found several days later.




Prosecutors have filed homicide charges against two men in a 2017 Ashland County murder case.

The complaint said that occurred on, or around September 22nd or 23rd, but Sheriff Mick Brennan did not know the exact date of the homicide. 

Cadotte's body was found several days later.

Police have issued an arrest warrant for Nelis and are asking for the public's help locating him.

Sweet is currently being held behind bars in Green Bay.
