UPDATE: Power restored to nearly all customers following morning storms

UPDATE 2:35 p.m. -- Thousands of customers across the region are out of the dark following strong storms in the area Thursday morning. 

At the height of the outage, more than 3,500 people were without power across Northern Minnesota. 

The outages involved both Minnesota power and Lake Country Power. 


More than 3,500 people are without power across northern Minnesota Thursday as severe storms move across the region.

According to the Minnesota Power outage map, 2,270 of their customers are in the dark as of 5 a.m.

The Lake Country Power outage map shows 1,295 of their customers are without power.

No word at this time what caused the outages. The outages span from Duluth to the Iron Range and west toward Bemidji.
