The cost of maintaining Duluth's Old Central High School is now estimated at roughly $24 million.
Earlier this month, Duluth School District leaders reviewed delayed maintenance projects across the district as part of updating their 10-year facilities plan. That includes repairs to the 126-year-old historic building.
District spokespeople say Old Central is in need of several renovations, from window replacement to clock tower work, and the price tag for all projects is about $6 million more than originally expected.
The Board is considering hiring a professional firm to audit the building's needs before making any decisions.
The 10-year facilities plan will be voted on by the School Board next week.
