West Duluth house fire sparked by a discarded cigarette

DULUTH, MN -

In west Duluth Tuesday, officials say a cigarette is to blame for a fire that did serious damage to the outside of a home.

Flames broke out around 3:30 p.m. near the west 4th St. and 42nd Ave. intersection.

KBJR 6 is told the homeowner and their pets safely made it out.

Investigators say the fire was started by a discarded cigarette, and did about $16,000 in damage.
