The theme of this year's St. Louis River Summit is 'Reflecting on the Blue Mind and a Blue Economy', highlighting the health of the St. Louis River and Lake Superior.
The Lake Superior National Estuarine Research Reserve says the event is put on to highlight and present information abut the river environment, community well-being and scientific monitoring techniques.
The research reserve says those waterways are connected to our personal well-being and the economic health of our communities.
"The summit is our opportunity ever year to talk about what we're doing on the St. Louis River, and find opportunities to work together and share our information so we're not duplicating our efforts, and so that we're building on each other, and it's really built a strong community that works on the St. Louis," Education Coordinator for research reserve, Deanna Erickson, said.
The summit was held at the University of Wisconsin-Superior, but is also taking place Wednesday.
