Madisen Overbye scored 15 points and Mary Burke chipped in with 13 on Thursday night, leading the Mountain Iron-Buhl (MIB) girls' basketball team to a 54-46 win over Bigfork in the Section 7A championship game.
The Rangers opened an early 16-4 lead, but the Huskies battled back to be down only three at halftime. Bigfork kept the game close throughout the second half but never pulled even, and MIB was able to hold off a late charge for the win.
It's the eighth straight section championship for the Rangers, who said after the game that this one may mean the most.
"It's amazing. It's everything I ever wanted," Burke said. "I just wanted to prove to everybody that MIB is still on the map. I'm really proud of my team."
Brianna Haley led all scorers with 17 points for Bigfork.
Seeding for the MSHSL Class A tournament will be complete on Saturday, but MIB will play its quarterfinal on March 15 at Williams Arena.
