If Duluth East needs its best players to be its best players at the state tournament, Garrett Worth gave his team a much-needed boost on Thursday afternoon in a 5-0 win over St. Michael-Albertville in the MSHSL Class AA quarterfinals.
The Minnesota Mr. Hockey finalist scored three goals, including the opening marker in the first period, and added an assist in the lopsided win for the Greyhounds.
Logan Anderson and Ian Mageau got the other goals for the Greyhounds, those coming 1:10 apart late in the second period. Worth's third goal, which came on a redirect, came shortly afterward to make it three goals in 1:45 for Duluth East.
Mageau finished with a goal and two assists, while Ryder Donovan and Carson Cochran both had two helpers in the winning effort.
Parker Kleive finished with 28 saves for the Greyhounds.
No. 3 Duluth East now advances to the Class AA semifinals against No. 2 Edina, with that game scheduled for 6:00 p.m. Friday at the Xcel Energy Center.
