Cohasset, Minn. native and University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) sophomore goaltender Hunter Shepard has been named one of 10 semifinalists for the 2018 Mike Richter Award, it was announced on Thursday morning.

The award, which is in its fifth year, is given annually to the nation's most outstanding goaltender in NCAA Division I men's hockey, and it will be presented on April 6.

Shepard this season is (19-14-1) with a 2.06 goals against average for the Bulldogs, and he's set a new single-season program record with six shutouts. His 19 wins are tied for fifth-most in the country, and he's also got the third-best goals against average (2.06) and save percentage (.923) in the National Collegiate Hockey Conference.

Five finalists for this year's Mike Richter Award will be announced on March 22, and the winner will then be announced during the NCAA Frozen Four in St. Paul, Minn.
