GRAND PORTAGE, MN -

A Thunder Bay man is facing drug possession charges after a bust in Grand Portage uncovered thousands of pills.

According to the Cook County Sheriff's Office, John Heinonen, 60, was arrested on Friday after picking up a package which contained just over 3,000 non-prescribed narcotic pills.

Authorities say Heinonen has been released, after he posted a $100,000 bail.

He has been formally charged with one count of first degree drug possession.

The Sheriff's Office says they are working with Canadian law enforcement on the case.
