BELTRAMI COUNTY, MN -

The FBI and several other agencies are investigating after a candidate for the Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe Tribal Council received "suspicious mail."

According to the Beltrami County Sheriff's Office, 71-year-old Donald Finn of Cass Lake, got the mail Monday night. Inside, authorities said Finn found a threatening message and a powder substance.

Finn is a candidate for the Office of Secretary and Treasurer for the Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe and told authorities he felt the incident is related to his candidacy.

The Minnesota Department of Health is testing the substance inside the mail.

Finn says neither he or his family members reported feeling any side effects.
