The Mountain Iron-Buhl girls' basketball team has won seven straight Section 7A titles and is the favorite again this season, that after running away with a 68-21 win over Floodwood in Tuesday's semifinals.
The lone highlight of the game for the Polar Bears came late in the second half, with senior Mikayla Koivisto hitting a pair of free throws to make her the school's all-time leading scorer with 1,679 career points.
Bigfork later pulled an upset in the other semifinal, beating Cromwell-Wright 38-34 in a tightly contested game. The last and only time the Huskies made it to the state tournament was the 2008-09 season.
The Section 7A championship game is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. Thursday at Romano Gymnasium.
