Hibbing, Minn. native and University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) freshman defenseman Scott Perunovich has been named to the National Collegiate Hockey Conference (NCHC) all-rookie team, it was announced on Tuesday afternoon.
Perunovich was a unanimous selection to the all-rookie team, that as he's leading the nation's rookie blueliners with 31 points this season. His nine goals and 22 assists make him the second-highest scoring freshman defenseman in program history, with only Justin Faulk (8-25-33) having more.
He's the fourth UMD player to be on the league's all-rookie team in its five-year history, joining Joey Anderson, Kasimir Kaskisuo, and Alex Iafallo.
The all-NCHC teams will be announced on Wednesday, and the league's individual awards will be announced on Thursday.
