Nate Johnson has been hired as the new defensive secondary coach for the University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) football team, it was announced on Tuesday afternoon.
Johnson, who played four years with St. Cloud State, has spent the past nine seasons coaching at the NCAA Division II and Division III levels. That includes stops with both Central Washington and Gustavus Adolphus, where he was also coaching defensive backs.
"We are excited to welcome someone with the wealth of experience that Nate brings to our staff," UMD head coach Curt Wiese said. "He comes to our program highly-recommended for his character and ability to lead young men."
Johnson will fill, in part, the role left vacant by Greg Bower after his departure last month to become the defensive coordinator at Loras.
