Slippery conditions expected Monday night, Tuesday morning

Posted: Updated:
ST. PAUL, MN -

Mixed precipitation is expected for the Northern part of Minnesota Monday night, and MnDOT officials want you to be prepared.

If you have to drive in the latest round of winter weather, you're asked to drive carefully, and to expect blowing snow, which may worsen conditions for Tuesday morning.

Snowplow operators are doing their part, and you should do the following when you encounter them:

  • Be patient
  • Stay back at least five, and preferably ten car lengths behind the plow to avoid the snow cloud
  • Be alert for snowplows that turn or exit frequently, and often without warning
  • Plows traveling over center lines or into traffic
  • Slow down for current conditions, and even slower for plows, who typically move at slower speeds
