DULUTH, MN -

Joey Anderson got the No. 7 University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) men's hockey team on the board first 3:24 into the game, but No. 14 University of Nebraska-Omaha (UNO) went on a scoring spree to top the Bulldogs 4-1 in the last series of the regular season opener at AMSOIL Arena on Friday.

Three minutes after Anderson's goal, UNO tied up the game 1-1.

The second period saw one goal from Duluth native Jake Randolph to put the Mavericks up 2-1, and they quickly doubled their lead in the third period.

Despite the Bulldogs leading 42-28 in shots on goal, UMD couldn't produce more than their lone goal.

UMD's goaltender Hunter Shepard made 24 saves in the loss.

The regular season series finale between UMD and UNO continues on Saturday at 7 p.m. It will be televised on Fox Sports North Plus.
