Two arrested following Hermantown drug bust

HERMANTOWN, MN -

Police say two Hermantown residents have been charged after finding about 26 pounds of marijuana, as well as two loaded handguns in a recent drug bust. 

Police say they also discovered $27,000 in cash, and about seven pounds of Butane Hash Oil - or "wax" - during the search.

Officers were called to Meadow Parkway around 1:30 p.m. on February 21st after the Lake Superior Drug and Violent Crimes Task Force was issued a search warrant.

While there, authorities discovered one of the handguns had been stolen during a vehicle prowl in Duluth.

Miles Hamel, 20, and Savannah Williams, 18, are now facing the following charges:

  • 2nd degree sale of a controlled substance - felony 
  • 4th degree sale of controlled substance in a park  - felony
  • Possession of stolen property

Miles is being held at the St. Louis County Jail on a $50,000 bail. 

Williams was released on February 23rd. 

Authorities say the drugs have a street value of over $200,000.
