After record-setting February, UMD G Shepard named NCHC player of the month
DULUTH, MN -
Cohasset, Minn. native and University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) sophomore goaltender Hunter Shepard has been named the National Collegiate Hockey Conference (NCHC) player of the month, it was announced on Tuesday.
Shepard led the nation with three shutouts in February, with those coming in consecutive games and matching a program record. He was (4-2-0) overall with a 1.01 goals against average for the Bulldogs, sporting the nation's second-best save percentage at .963.
Having twice received the NCHC goaltender of the week honor in February, Shepard also collected his first career assist in a road win over Western Michigan.
Shepard is (18-11-1) overall this season and has set a new single-season program record with six shutouts.
