Community leaders in the Northland are squashing hunger in the region- one donation at a time.
CHUM and Thrivent Financial, among other Northland businesses are raising money, and collecting food, for their Minnesota FoodShare campaign throughout March.
On Tuesday, community business leaders highlighted the need right here, in our own region.
CHUM's goal this year is to raise $110,000, and 31,000 pounds of food for three food shelf sites in Duluth.
"We've been involved for many, many years. There's actually a pretty long tradition of us participating in food share campaigns. Last year, like I said, it builds year after year, it seems to grow. And last year was our biggest year with our $10,000 donation," said Brand Manager for Whole Food Co-Op Ali Wade.
Last year the campaign raised $99,000, as well as 28,000 pounds of food.
