CANYON, MN -

The St. Louis County Sheriff's Office says, after an air and ground search was done in the Canyon area on Tuesday, no plane has been found or reported as missing.

Authorities say a passerby called in shortly before 10 a.m., saying they believed a plane had crashed about 10 miles south of the intersection of Highway 53 and Harris Road.

Multiple departments helped with the search, including a Life Link Helicopter, the State Patrol, Minnesota DNR, and the St. Louis County Rescue Squads, as well as multiple volunteer fire departments. 


UPDATE: The Minnesota State Patrol has confirmed rescue crews are searching for a possible plane crash near Highway 53. 

Rescuers were called to the area of Harris Road, which is just east of Highway 53, before 10 a.m. on Tuesday. 

A Life Link helicopter was dispatched to help with searching the area.

However, there is no confirmation at this time as to what they are searching for.

The St. Louis County Rescue Squad was also called to the scene.

Crews are staging at Northland Fire Hall.

There is a heavy presence of emergency response workers and vehicles near Canyon at this time.
