The College of St. Scholastica (CSS) women's hockey team couldn't hang on to a third period lead on Friday night, leading to a 2-2 tie with Concordia-Wisconsin to open the NCHA playoffs at Mars Lakeview Arena.
Mac Johnson scored a shorthanded goal to tie the game early in the second period, and then Denisa Lalikova gave the Saints a 2-1 lead two minutes later.
The Falcons' Natasha Wanless, however, tied the game six minutes into third period with a power play goal.
The two teams played a scoreless overtime, marking the first time the Saints have played to a draw since a 2-2 affair with St. Thomas on January 6.
Lexi Thomaczek made 26 saves for the Saints, who were outshot 28-24.
CSS (15-6-5) remains unbeaten at home in 2017-18, and will face Concordia-Wisconsin in a winner-take-all game tomorrow at 4 p.m. The winner advances to the NCHA Slaats Cup semifinals next weekend.
