Terres' late goal lifts Bemidji State past UMD women in game one of WCHA playoffs

Emma Terres scored a third period power play goal on Friday afternoon, lifting the Bemidji State University (BSU) women's hockey team past the University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) 2-1 in game one of the WCHA quarterfinals.
UMD's Sydney Brodt opened the game's scoring with a breakaway goal with six minutes left in the second period. That was followed by a goal from former Bulldog Bailey Wright three minutes later to tie the game at 1-1.
Terres' game-winning goal came seven minutes into the third period off a one-timer from the near circle.
Jessica Convery made 25 saves for the Bulldogs, who outshot the Beavers 30-27.
UMD falls to (14-5-4) overall on the season, and will host the second game of the best-of-three series tomorrow at AMSOIL Arena at 2:07 p.m.
