How to help displaced Ironwood fire victims

Posted: Updated:

Community members are coming together and asking for donations as the city of Ironwood recovers from a fatal fire in the downtown area.

A fire started in the early morning hours on Wednesday, and destroyed a building which was the home to both apartments and businesses.

The Chamber of Commerce, city officials, and the Red Cross are coming together to help those in need.

If you would like to donate, the following items are needed for Red Cross Care Kits:

  • Comb/hairbrush
  • Deodorant
  • Washcloth
  • Soap/shampoo/conditioner
  • Toothbrush/toothpaste/mouthwash
  • Hand sanitizer
  • Razor and shaving cream
  • Tampons
  • Small toys/games
  • Coloring books
  • Stuffed animals
  • Large zip lock bags

If you do donate goods, please stick to this list because other goods won't be accepted at the donation center.

The center is located at Cold Iron Brewing in Ironwood and will be open between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, as well as from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday.

You can also donate money to the fire victims at the following locations or accounts throughout the next week:
