Despite the recent cold temperatures, officials with the National Park Service say the ice is not thick enough for people to travel to the ice caves.
Park officials say ice doesn't form overnight, and it takes time for ice to form on the lake, especially near the caves.
The ice near the caves is not protected by the wind, which means ice is often blown out.
Just last week the camera, which shows ice conditions, showed open water in the area.
It is unknown if the ice caves will open this year.
However, if they do, officials say it won't be until the end of the month at the earliest.
