Starting Wednesday, you have a chance to weigh in as the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency considers the future of PolyMet's proposed copper and nickel mine.
Earlier this month, it was the Department of Natural Resources that gave PolyMet a major step forward by releasing a draft permit to mine. It's not quite the final step, but many say it clears a big hurdle for what would be the state's first copper and nickle mine.
Now, the MPCA also plans to release draft water quality and air quality permits. Those are two more major permits PolyMet needs before it could open its proposed mine and processing plant near Babbitt and Hoyt Lakes.
The public comment period opens at 9 a.m., and will stay open until March 16.
You'll also have a chance to share your thoughts during one of two public meetings scheduled for next week.
The first is next Wednesday in Aurora, and the other is next Thursday, February 8th in Duluth.
