Martin Luther King Junior Day is on Monday, but the Twin Ports has been celebrating King's legacy since Thursday.
The Youth Nation took place from noon to four at Denfeld High School Saturday.
The event was Family-centered and highlighted youth in the community.
Games, performances, music, and food were offered for those who attended.
All events are coordinated by the Duluth Chapter of the NAACP and are all free.
This year's theme is "A Birth of a New Nation" taken from King's 1957 sermon of the same title.
"Well we are honoring Martin Luther King, and he always spoke of justice and peace today in our world, when lots of things are at odds it's really important to lift up his message and remind the community that justice and love prevail," said Planning Committee Member Youth Nation, Jara Mclarren.
On Monday there will be a community breakfast at the Holy Family Catholic Church started at 7:30 a.m., followed by a march Downtown Duluth at 10 a.m. all wrapped up with a rally at noon at the DECC.
