If you plan on heading out on the ice anytime soon, you'll need to be careful.
The Coast Guard says due to warmer temperatures in recent days, ice conditions are listed as unstable around the Great Lakes area.
If you do head out, you're asked to remember the following acronym to stay safe: ICE - Information, Clothing, and Equipment.
Make sure you have the right information on weather and ice conditions before heading out, and how to call for help.
You're also asked to wear proper clothing to stay warm, and to wear bright colors in order to be more easily seen by others.
Do not go out onto the ice without proper safety equipment, a marine radio, a personal locator beacon, a life jacket, as well as screwdrivers or ice picks.
